When does the revered right of free speech cross the line? For British Prime Minister David Cameron, when it comes from Islamists. According to CNS News, “British Prime Minister David Cameron announced Sunday that the United Kingdom is cracking down on the speech and activities of sympathizers of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL)—aka ISIS. In an oped, Camerson said the group represents a “poisonous extremism” that poses “a clear danger to Europe and to our security.”
Finally, someone, an actual leader gets it and understands that free speech cannot be used to incite sedition. One would only hope the same would occur here in the United States – I’m not holding my breath.
But we must come to understand that groups listed as terrorist organizations — Hamas, Hezbollah, al-Qaida, ISIS and a litany of others — must not be granted the support of those who reside in countries where they have been designated so. And we need to be circumspect about allowing the existence and influence of organizations that have ties to these groups. I hope someday there will be an American leader with the courage to designate the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization.
“If people are walking around with ISIL flags or trying to recruit people to their terrorist cause, they will be arrested and their materials will be seized,” Cameron wrote in The Telegraph. “We are a tolerant people, but no tolerance should allow the room for this sort of poisonous extremism in our country,” he added.
Gee, I guess Prime Minister Cameron is in agreement with my maxim of “When tolerance becomes a one way street it leads to cultural suicide.”
“The creation of an extremist caliphate in the heart of Iraq and extending into Syria is not a problem miles away from home,” Cameron emphasized in his column. “Nor is it a problem that should be defined by a war 10 years ago. It is our concern here and now.”
Cameron realizes Islamic jihadist ideology is a cancer which is festering and growing within his country — and ours.
“If we do not act to stem the onslaught of this exceptionally dangerous terrorist movement,” Cameron says, “it will only grow stronger until it can target us on the streets of Britain.” Sadly, for British Soldier Lee Rigby that has already happened.
The ability to hide in Western countries and turn our freedoms upon us is a brilliant cultural chess move by Islamists. And when challenged, they, and their Western cultural jihadist apologist allies, employ the tactic of intimidation by crying “Islamophobe” to silence opposition to their agenda.
Cameron has realized that he must take action based upon increasing instances of recruitment attempts by ISIL (also known as the Islamic State for Iraq and Syria (ISIS) or the Islamic State) in the UK. Last week, leaflets were being handed out on Oxford Street in London encouraging British Muslims to join ISIL in jihad in Iraq. An ISIL flag was also recently flown at a housing project in East London.
In recent weeks the British government has taken down 28,000 pieces of terrorist-related material from the web, including 46 ISIL-related videos.
We in the Western world will not be successful until we have more leaders who take action in the same vein as Cameron. We reported here that the number one boys’ name in England is Muhammad. We can no longer bow down to the false gods of “multiculturalism” as we enable our own cultural demise. Islamic totalitarianism and jihadism is on the march and the perpetrators are achieving victory only due to our own reticence to push back.
It’s clear what ISIS thinks about “coexist” — they just delivered their own slogan with the beheading of the American journalist, James Wright Foley.
